One of the coolest-looking kitchen products to come along in a while, the Grilla skillet wok would be a conversation piece in any kitchen. It looks like a cross between a skillet and a wok, but the nonstick bottom and sides are covered with holes, letting vegetables or shrimp cook evenly without oils or other liquids. The extra-large 12-inch diameter and 2-3/4-inch depth provide plenty of room for a veggie stir fry (without the actual "fry") or a boatload of shrimp. A metal brace imprinted with the word "hot" on the stainless-steel handle conveniently reminds you to use a hot pad, and the long handle folds up and inside for easy storage. Comment: The non-stick surface started flaking off on the SECOND use. This seems to be typical of Grilla Gear products, as the non-stick surface started coming off the FIRST time I used their 16 oz. Saucepot.

Summary: East meets west: great flavor without the FAT 2000-06-16
Comment: This cool looking, versatile, perforated hybrid of the time honored kitchen standards of the west: the skillet, and the east: the wok, is both fun to use and makes for some exciting low fat grilling. Can be used on the barbeque grill or stove top, great for vegetables and seafood. When using a rub or other messy spices, we use the skillet-wok outdoors on the grill, which also enhances the flavor. The non-stick surface works really well, but watch out for a hot handle!
