(BTW, my wife somewhat challenges the use of the word "forced") As a proud Weber kettle owner for many years (Both the Performer and a Weber 757001 22 1/2-Inch One-Touch Gold Charcoal Grill, Green), I have long had my sights on an all Weber fleet. I have cooked on Weber gas grills before. It was never a question of quality, but the overall look of the Summit line. Simply put, I hated the wheels. There was just something about that beautiful piece of stainless that appeared to be riding on the deck of a lawn mower. I toyed with getting a drop in, but decided against it. When the 2007 Summit line was previewed, I knew this was the year. The lawn mower wheels were gone. Within an hour of the grill's arrival at my house, it was assembled...Read more 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful: By Blue Devil (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews This review is from: Weber 1880001 Summit S-650 Natural Gas Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio) I had been shopping for a good looking stainess steel grill for a long time. They all seemed to fall into one of two categories:
1) They looked nice and had the right price, but seemed to be of questionable build quality and cooking power. Most of the Sam's/Costco/Kenmore/etc. grills fit this bill for me. I seriously considered these, but they all seemed more built for show than grilling 2) They were perfect but cost $4000 or so by the time I got the size and features I wanted. (Viking, DCS, TEC, etc.) I also seriously considered these but I really didn't want to blow $4K on something that will probably last 5 or 6 years of thorough use. Then came this grill - the first weber that looked good enough for my patio. It is not quite as "stunning" in looks as a viking since the back and sides of the cart are painted and the sides of the grill are cast alumnium, but it still exudes quality in a way the Sam's grills never will. Most...Read more 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Weber 1880001 Summit S-650 Natural Gas Grill, Stainless Steel (Lawn & Patio) After much research, I bought this grill so that I could do long, slow, low temp barbecue without the fuss of charcoal or propane. I bought a small LP weber grill a while back and was impressed with the quality of the build for such a low price (400 bucks).
The grill was mostly assembled when it arrived, but I have to admit that there are some flimsy details. The grease-pan holder is practically aluminum foil and doesn't install solidly. This proves to be something of a pain in the behind to maintain later. In addition, the doors were off center and one of them doesn't close properly. With all that said, cooking with this grill just kicks butt. The smoker is great and works pretty consistently with soaked chips. The grill is super hot and mostly even when lit to the max. When barbecuing via indirect heat, you can keep the heat consistently at 250 (give or take), which allows you to do 4-5 hour sessions. For that matter, you can keep the temp pinned...Read more |
